About PhotonFuture

01 / 04
  • What is PhotonFuture?
We are a technology services company. We do product consulting, software engineering, and when the problem calls for it, hardware-software integration. We work with founders, scaling SMBs, and teams doing digital transformation, primarily in China and the US.
  • When was PhotonFuture founded and who runs it?
Founded in 2023. Three co-founders: Ehan (CEO — product and engineering), Leo (CPO — design and growth), Hansen (CLO — legal and commercial). See the About page for more detail.
  • Where is PhotonFuture based?
We operate across China, Hong Kong, and the United States as a single team. We don't publish a street address — client meetings happen on-site, at partner offices, or over video.

Working with us

02 / 04
  • What kinds of engagements do you take?
Four pillars: (1) technical advisory for non-technical founders, (2) product and engineering for scaling SMBs, (3) digital transformation for traditional industries, (4) cross-border engineering — software built in one market, shipped in another. See Services.
  • Who are your typical clients?
Teams between 5 and 500 people who need a serious engineering partner but don't want to build the whole capability in-house. We prefer clients who care about long-term software quality — not a quick MVP and walk away.
  • How long is a typical engagement?
Advisory: 1 to 3 months. Product and engineering builds: 3 to 12 months. Ongoing operations: open-ended, reviewed quarterly. We don't do sub-4-week projects — the ramp-up doesn't amortize.
  • Do you take equity instead of fees?
Occasionally, for founders we believe in and when the economics make sense for both sides. The default is a straightforward fee-for-service engagement. Equity conversations happen after a paid pilot, never before.

Technology & scope

03 / 04
  • What technologies do you work with?
We're polyglot. Common stack: TypeScript and Python as defaults, Go and Rust when latency matters, Swift and Kotlin for mobile. Infrastructure leans Cloudflare and AWS. We pick tools to fit the problem, not the other way around.
  • Do you handle hardware as well as software?
Yes, when the product requires it. We've worked on joint ventures where the software team and hardware team sit together. We don't fabricate at scale ourselves — we partner with manufacturers and handle the software, firmware, and integration.
  • How do you approach AI and ML in client projects?
Pragmatically. We use LLMs where they earn their weight (search, summarization, structured extraction, coding assistance) and avoid them where deterministic code is cheaper and more reliable. We've shipped two of our own AI products — MyMemo.ai and Cobbling.ai — so the opinions are operational, not theoretical.

Logistics & getting started

04 / 04
  • Do you work across time zones?
Always. Our team is split across CN/HK/US time zones by design, so handoff between regions is a daily practice, not a quarterly ceremony. Async-first written communication, live calls scheduled at the overlap windows that actually work.
  • How do I start a conversation?
Email business@photonfuture.cn with what you're trying to build, the rough timeline, and any constraints that matter (budget, timezone, compliance). We reply within two business days.
